There are a number of freely licensed or open source software tools listed below which may be useful to the online scholar. None of them are specifically endorsed or supported by OJBS: Online Journal of Bahá'í Studies.

Zotero: Online citation manger and harvester for Firefox.

Bibus bibliographic database using MySQL or SQLLite database engines.

JabRef is an open source bibliographic system which interoperates with BibTeX and LaTex.

Scribus is an open source page layout software system.

OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project.

Inkscape is an An Open Source vector graphics editor.
