Publishing Schedule OJBS: Online
Journal of Bahá'í Studies
OJBS: Online Journal of Bahá'í Studies adheres to a policy of progressive
publication. The objective is to publish as rapidly as possible without
jeopardizing quality. Because the journal has no print equivalent,
individual components of a journal i.e. the articles can be published as
they are received in prepress form. Prepress papers are designed to
facilitate early reading of author's material and to increase the rate of
deliverable research and to facilitate responses to papers in a timely
fashion.
Prepress articles are typically accepted,
reviewed papers published in manuscript form before they are copyedited and
published in the printed issue of a journal. In the case of OJBS: Online
Journal of Bahá'í Studies the prepress articles are content and layout final
excepting the pagination is subject to change (each prepress article starts
its page numbering from 1). Each prepress article is assigned a URL which
links automatically to the final published and correctly paginated version
below. This prepress URL should be used where possible when citing a
prepress article from OJBS: Online Journal of Bahá'í Studies.
On the 1st of November each year the content
of the annual issue is closed off and a new issue is initiated. This
complete issue is then assembled into a finished volume and the article
pagination is set. Beyond November 1st OJBS: Online Journal of Bahá'í Studies
articles can actually be used as a typical full print style citation. Minor
copyediting mistakes or typographical errors can be repaired prior to the
end of year assembly process.
The editors of the journal have a goal to
publish articles for OJBS: Online Journal of Bahá'í Studies on a six week
turn-around from acceptance of the manuscript to prepress publication.
At present OJBS: Online Journal of Bahá'í
Studies is planned to publish annually. However should submissions increase
to the point where single volume issues become unwieldy as files then
OJBS: Online Journal of Bahá'í Studies may produce more issues per year.
The journal is also keen to publish
unscheduled supplementary volumes or issues, including the conference
proceedings of like-minded scholarly organizations.
